The Vertex Gold VG.05 Sideboard has plain taupe fronts crossed by a band of horizontal oak-tone slats that runs unbroken from one end to the other. The frame, also in taupe, wraps around the body and rises above the top, and the piece stands on angled grey metal legs that flare slightly outwards.

The top is the detail that catches the eye: it has an oxidised look, in shades of rust, copper and grey, and a line of light runs along the wall, inside the frame, highlighting whatever is placed on top. The same sideboard also comes with a plain, pale top, for a quieter look.

The band of slats warms up the taupe and gives rhythm to such a long front, while the light along the wall picks out a painting or a glass lamp. In the Vertex Gold VG.04 Dining Room, it is the plain-topped version that accompanies the Vertex Gold VG.04 Dining Table, with its oak-tone top on a sculptural, faceted base in a dark grey that contrasts with the wood tone.
