The Vertex Gold VG.17 Sideboard pairs plain taupe doors with a strip of wood tone along the top. On the left, a tall door runs the full height of the piece; beside it, just below the top, two oak-tone drawers and an open niche lined in the same tone sit in a row, with three doors beneath them. There are no visible handles: each drawer simply has a small round finger hole.
The oak tone of the drawers and niche shows knots and a pronounced grain, with a more rustic feel, and contrasts with the even taupe of the rest of the piece and its plain top. The body rests on a dark, recessed base, almost hidden in shadow, which lifts it off the floor and makes it look lighter.
The niche is handy for keeping books, magazines or a bottle of wine within reach, and the drawers hold cutlery close to the table. In the Vertex Gold VG.17 Dining Room it stands near the Vertex Gold VG.17 Dining Table, whose knotty oak-tone top, matching the drawers, rests on a sculptural base of two faceted legs in bronze-brown metal.
