The Galia GAL.01 Display Cabinet is tall, with straight lines and rounded edges, and plays two materials off each other: fluted fronts with vertical grooves on either side and, in the middle, a glass door with a dark frame. Inside, the glass shelves and interior lighting put glasses, fine china or treasured pieces on show, and in the evening, with the light on, the cabinet becomes a warm accent in the room.
The plain sides come in a light, natural wood tone with a clearly defined grain, and the body stands on dark grey metal legs, angled and splayed diagonally, which lift it off the floor. There are two ways of dividing the front: with two fluted doors on each side, one above the other, and the glass running from top to bottom; or with the fluted fronts and the glass ending at a plain front that spans the full width near the base.
It is the display cabinet in the Galia GAL.01 Dining Room, a bright room opening onto the garden, where it keeps company with the extending Galia GAL.01 Rectangular Dining Table and the taupe upholstered chairs. On the other side of the room, the Galia GAL.02 Sideboard repeats the play of fluting and glass in a long, low version.
