Ceará Sofa
The Ceará Sofa has two wide, square seat cushions, a low back and thick, straight arms. Around the outer face of each arm runs a slim black metal frame, like a picture frame, and at the left end a small, low side module with a dark top is joined on.
The fabric is a soft, understated sage green, and the black metal creates a sharp, graphic contrast that draws the volume of the arm as if it were a painting. The feet are short and black. At the back, the same metal frames are repeated on the back panels, so the sofa also looks good standing away from the wall.
The side module is a handy rest for a book or a cup, and sage green goes with pale wood, marble and neutral tones, as in a softly coloured room with an abstract painting. If you are looking for a system to put together your own way, the Ceará Modular Sofa uses the same framed arms in a set of modules.
