Alagoas Sofa
The Alagoas Sofa is drawn like a shell: the tall, curved back, made of vertical channels, wraps around the seat and merges with the arms. A long, thick seat and a deep, round-cornered base rest on four short black feet.
Colour does half the work. The back and the seat cushion are in soft white bouclé, and a thin ochre-brown band runs around the outside of the back and the arms, while the deep base is entirely in ochre bouclé. The contrast between white and ochre gives it a warm look, almost that of a decorative object.
It looks good in a room with brick walls or warm colours, beside a large window, as in the Alagoas Living Room. It pairs with the Alagoas Armchair, in the same ochre, and there is a longer version with a chaise, the Alagoas Sofa with Chaise Longue. Seen from above or from the front, the vertical channels are the detail that catches the eye.
